Under 20s Dragons through to the second week of finals

The St. George Illawarra Dragons have powered through the Penrith Panthers to come away with a 44-20 victory at ANZ Stadium in the first elimination final. With the Dragons downing the Panthers, they move into the second week of the finals were they will face either the Bulldogs or the Wests Tigers. See how the match unfolded below.

5th minute - Blake South from a quick play of the ball darted out of acting half and dived over between defenders close to the goal line. He posts first points for the Panthers. The leading points scorer for the Panthers, Zac Mackay with the conversion attempt extend the lead to 6-0 for the Panthers

TRY DRAGONS:
Try - Adam Quinlan; Goal - Adam Quinlan 1/1

10th minute - Adam Quinlan has hit back for the Dragons as his fill in halfback Jared Allen broke the line and found Quinlan in support. The Dragons busted through the poor defence from the Panthers to lock the game at 6-all after 10 minutes.

14th minute - The Dragons have gone back to back as Craig Garvey laid the foundation for his second-rower. Blake Phillips reached out for the line to push through the defence to claim the second Dragons try. 
Adam Quinlan with the conversion attempt from in front of the sticks made it a six point gap

20th minute - 
Craig Garvey again in the action as he managed to keep the ball alive. He a flicked the pass out of the ruck to find the arms of Nathan Green who then passed out to Kyle Martens who crossed for the Dragons third unanswered four-pointer. Adam Quinlan keeps the perfect kicking today with his conversion from next to the posts

TRY PANTHERS:

33th minute - The Panthers finally have managed to complete a set with points. They created an overlap on the right hand set with a quick hands movement. The overlap was capitalised on by Tony Satini as he strolled in the corner. Zac Mackay from the sideline failed to convert as he pushed it across the face

NO TRY PANTHERS:
No Try - Bryce Cartwright

40th minute - Tom Eisenhuth took on the line and managed to get the offload away despite being tackled by three Dragons defenders. The offload fell in the arms of Bryce Cartwright who with one hand attempted to ground the ball. After a review from the video referee, the decision was no try for a knock on. It was a questionable call, but deemed that Cartwright failed to ground it before the ball separated from his hand.

INJURY: 45th minute - Blake Phillips (Dragons) has come off the field with a knee injury.

49th minute -  The Panthers have posted first points of the second half after a strong run from Tom Eisenhuth.  Tom Eisenhuth had the stripped from him and in support was Tony Satini who raced away for his second try of the afternoon. Zac Mackay with the conversion from the touchline swung the kick between the posts.

51st minute - The Dragons hit back quick with their fourth try. Jordan Hay added his name to the try scorers sheet as he cleaned up an inside pass and barged his way over the goal line. 
Adam Quinlan's conversion is successful which returns to the Dragons to an eight point lead over the Dragons

59th minute - Charly Runciman provided a lovely short pass to link up with Kayne Brennan took the pass and scored in the corner. The Dragons busting the defensive easily to add more points to their tally. However, Quinlan with the conversion attempt failed to convert.

61st minute - Following a strong run from Craig Garvey, Todd Ryan backed it up with a charing run to the goal line. His effort saw him reach out for the line to post another Dragons try. Quinlan with the conversion extend the lead once again

66th minute - After providing the platform for earlier Panthers' tries, Tom Eisenhuth has managed to crash over the line after taking a short pass from his fullback in Kieran Moss. Zac Mackay again failed to convert with the wind pushing it away

76th minute - 
Craig Garvey has scored a typical hooker's four-pointer as he fooled the defense with a show and go. He posted his own four-pointer as the Dragons kicked ahead, however, Quinlan missed another conversion.

79th minute - Adam Quinlan showed off his speed and footwork as he claimed his second try of the afternoon. He raced away to beat his opposite fullback to seal the win for the Dragons. He converted his own try from in front.
