In what can only be described as the most amazing season of Rugby League in the history of the game, this weekend?s results have provided and absolutely thrilling finish to the 2005 regular season.

The minor premiership is now very much up for grabs with three teams two points behind the Broncos with two weeks remaining and it may well come down to the final round with Brisbane and Parramatta playing off but let me take you on a journey of discovery.

Brisbane ? Roosters and Eels to play and are no guarantee to win either and even if they beat the Roosters, the final round match against the Eels will still have an impact on the minor premiership with the Dragons having the bye next weekend and still within two points coming into round 26.

Best possible finish: 1st Worst possible finish: 4th Likely finish: 3rd

Eels. ? Raiders and Broncos to play and if they beat the Raiders next week and beat Brisbane in round 26, the minor premiership is more than likely theirs with a superior for and against to the Dragons and Tigers but are by no means across the line.

Best possible finish: 1st Worst possible finish: 7th Likely finish: 1st

Dragons. The form side of the competition, but have the bye next week and the last thing they would have wanted. Could still win their final game against the Knights and come fourth due to for and against. Unbelievable but true. The bye could derail their season.

Best possible finish: 1st Worst possible finish: 7th Likely finish: 2nd

Tigers. Have the Storm and the Panthers to go before the finals and two wins and results in their favour could see them secure their maiden minor premiership. Are scoring plenty of points and are playing with confidence. Nothing is beyond them.

Best possible finish: 1st Worst possible finish: 7th Likely finish: 4th

Storm: Are coming off the bye and have the Tigers and Cowboys to play and are not guaranteed to win either match although their for and against will be a handy asset when it comes to seeding side in the final eight.

Best possible finish: 3rd Worst possible finish: 8th Likely finish: 5th

Cowboys: Fell over the line against the Raiders and they are not playing to their best but when they turn it on, can beat anyone although their lack of size concerns me. Still have to play the Rabbitohs and Storm. Tough draw.

Best possible finish: 3rd Worst possible finish: 8th Likely finish: 6th

Sharks. Blew Manly off the park and it?s a much needed boost and a win that secured them a finals berth. Knights and Rabbitohs to play and although they are last and second last respectively, they are two teams running hot at the moment.

Best possible finish: 3rd Worst possible finish: 8th Likely finish: 7th

Manly: Are cannon fodder even if they make the eight but after today?s ?effort?, they are no sure things to win their last two against the Warriors and Raiders. They don?t deserve to be in the eight after today?s performance.

Best possible finish: 7th (Storm and Cowboys are too far in front in points differential) Worst possible finish: 10th (If Raiders, Roosters and Panthers all win their remaining two games and Manly lose, Manly will fall out of the eight. Likely finish: 9th

Bulldogs: Have copped two floggings and don?t look like winning again this year but you never know with this competition. Have the Panthers and Roosters to play and both opponents can still smell the finals after the massacre at Shark Park.

Best possible finish: 8th Worst possible finish: 14th Likely finish: 10h

Roosters: Lost to the Bunnies and with Finch at half, they are an awful side. If they replace him, you never know but the odds are against the Roosters getting there after what we?ve seen in the past month.

Best possible finish: 8th Worst possible finish: 14th (Knights points differential is far worse than the Roosters) Likely finish: 11th

The Panthers have now popped up into finals contention and although they need a few miracles to go their way, now is the time to start praying. Their for and against is not as bad as some others and if they can put the Dogs away, then the last round match against the Tigers, assuming Manly lose to the Warriors next week, the Raiders lose to the Eels and the Roosters lose to the Broncos is for the Panthers season and it would be the most remarkable chain of events.

Best possible finish: 8th Worst possible finish 14th Likely finish: 8th

The Raiders lost yet another heartbreaker but there is still a glimmer, although it is flickering profusely but they have played with heart most weeks and like the Panthers, it would be a remarkable achievement if they made the top eight. A win over the Eels and Manly would see them in a points for and against battle with a few other sides if the Warriors beat Manly next week.

Best possible finish: 8th Worst possible finish: 14th Likely finish: 13th

The Warriors can?t make the eight and only have one game remaining but the result of their match against Manly has a huge effect on the outcome of the top eight so there is plenty to play for. IF they send Jones out a winner, Manly will more than likely miss the top eight with four teams in the race for Manly?s spot.

Best possible finish: 9th Worst possible finish: 14th Likely finish: 12th

The Bunnies are on the warpath and heaven help any side in their way as they are looking to take as many scalps as possible as a buildup to 2006. Even if they finish second last, not many people would have predicted the Bunnies to win eight matches and had they beaten the Dogs, they?d still be a mathematical chance at the top eight. McRae has done a lot of good work this season and 2006 looks to be a watershed season for the Bunnies.

Best possible finish: 9th Worst possible finish: 15th Likely finish: 14th

The Knights are desperately trying to offload the spoon but I feel it might be a fraction too late and although there is a lot of humiliation attached to the spoon, this years winner will finish on the highest points ever, and it?s a testimony to the best ever premiership competition in the history of Rugby League.

Best possible finish: 14th (based on for and against) Worst possible finish: 15th Likely finish: 15th

So there you have it, Albert Einstein and the theory of relativity couldn?t have done a better job and we are in for a grandstand finish at both ends of the table in what has easily been the best competition on record.
