Warrington drop Appo to make way
for Johns

Warrington have crossed off Australian utility back Graham Appo to make way for the arrival of Australian legend Andrew Johns.

The Wolves were forced to sacrifice one of their three overseas players to accommodate the Newcastle Knights scrum-half and the 31-year-old Appo has been chosen after picking up a shoulder injury.

?It is an unfortunate time of season for Graham to get injured,? said coach Paul Cullen.

?The option is there for Graham to be still available for us if any one of the three overseas players gets injured.

?Whether Graham wants to take up that option or chooses not to do because it is too difficult for him is his decision and we?ll support him either way. Contractually he is secure and he won?t lose out financially in this situation.?

Johns, who plays his last match of the season for the Knights on Sunday, will feature in Warrington?s last two games of the regular engage Super League campaign and up to four play-off ties.

Warrington?s other players on the quota are full-back Brent Grose and veteran half-back Nathan Wood. Appo, who was Warrington?s player of the year in 2003, is out of contract at the end of the season.
