Warriors announce Club President

Wigan Warriors are pleased to announce that Peter Higginbottom has been appointed as Club President.

Peter is a retired local solicitor who has been an active Wigan supporter for over fifty years. He is a former Director of the club in the 1980's and for the past eleven years has been the Chairman of the RFL and International Board Disciplinary Committee and a member of the RFL Advisory Board.

Speaking about the appointment Chairman Maurice Lindsay said,

"Myself and Dave Whelan have been thinking for sometime about the appointment of a club president. We have not had one since David himself was President in the mid 1980's. We both considered Peter to be the perfect choice as President, his loyalty and support of the club has been absolutely consistent throughout his whole life. I remember well his commitment having had the pleasure of working with him as a Director in the 1980's."

Peter Higginbottom said,

"Wigan is the most famous, the biggest and best Rugby League club in the world. I have supported the club man and boy through thick and thin for over fifty years and it is an immense honour to be invited to become President of this great club. It will be a pleasure and a privilege to serve the club in whatever way I can."
