Warriors fans mar Roosters
victory

Fulltime score: Round 10 Warriors 6 v Roosters 10

Match summary: A gritty victory to the Roosters in what was the lowest scoring game of the year so far has been marred by Warriors fans throwing projectiles at referee Shayne Hayne. The Roosters winning 10-6 over an equally determined Warriors at Ericsson Stadium today.

In an incident not foreign to the NRL, the bottle-throwing came on the back of several dubious calls by referee Hayne which may have ultimately cost the Warriors victory. One key decision was a call against the Warriors, Hayne ruling them to have knocked the ball on. The following set saw Sydney break the deadlock at the time and take a 10-6 lead.

Similar to last night's Bulldogs/Manly game, the clash was very low scoring and defensive, with a high amount of unforced errors. Early in the game the Roosters skipped away to a 6-0 lead courtesy of a Monaghan try before the Warriors snuck back to make the score 6-4. The scoreline stayed this way until halftime, with both sides not being able to make it over the line for the following 30 minutes.

The second half saw a penalty for the Warriors even things up. Minutes later the decision that swung the game and gave the Roosters ample field position, and put centre Iosia Soliola over in the corner. Fitzgibbon missed the conversion attempt.

Despite numerous attempts for the remainder of the game, the Warriors were unable to overcome the Roosters and for the third game straight, lost in heartbreaking circumstances. The Roosters, on the other hand, are improving by the week and will be keen to perform after Origin 1, due to their bye next week.
