Reports from the Australian newspaper indicate that Wayne Bennett is closer to securing his coaching future after rejecting a fairytale homecoming to Brisbane.
Things were going smoothly for the reunion until last weekend, when former Brisbane Broncos coach Ivan Henjak broke his silence about the circumstances that saw him punted from the club, just a few weeks before the season.
Bennett's choice is now between the Newcastle Knights and South Sydney.
Current Broncos coach Anthony Griffin has been handed a deal, which will see him stay at the club until 2013.
