Wentworthville triumph after 103 minutes
It took 103 minutes and featured 13 missed field goal attempts but the Wentworthville Magpies have eventually claimed the 2008 NSW Cup title with a gritty 12-8 win over the Newtown Jets at ANZ Stadium.

The Magpies levelled through winger Jonathan Wright before the Jets pushed ahead with a third wingers try to Byron Ford. All three conversions were missed (a sign of things to come?) leading to an 8-4 halftime lead to the Jets.

The last thirty minutes of regular time featured some sharp attack but mostly desperate defence as the Jets continually put themselves under pressure but somehow managed to repel the Magpies time after time.
An incredible 13 field goal attempts were taken as the match drew to a close, 5 from the Jets and 8 from the Magpies. In the end it took a try to seal the result with Magpies five-eighth Mark O
