Wesser and Stevens to be given every opportunity

Former Queensland fullback Rhys Wesser will have a light run this week to reassess his comeback from an ankle injury in a bid to chime into Penrith's must-win game against Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Wesser was not named in Penrith's side to play the Tigers at Telstra Stadium but remains hopeful of playing. Manly must lose to Canberra on Saturday night and Penrith must down the Tigers the next day for the Panthers to keep their finals hopes alive.

Down at Cronulla, former Test prop Jason Stevens will learn if he has played his last rugby league game when he visits a specialist today.

Stevens damaged his shoulder against Newcastle last Saturday night and was not named in the Sharks' final regular season game against South Sydney on Saturday night. The big prop had scans yesterday and will learn today if the injury rules him out of his club?s looming finals campaign.
