Wests Tigers cruise to victory over Bulldogs

Match Summary Canterbury Bulldogs 18 vs Wests Tigers 34

A refreshed and rejuvenated Wests Tigers outfit ran out convincing winners at a wet Telstra Stadium tonight, crushing a shoddy Bulldogs side by 34-18.

Coming off the bye, the Tigers looked prepared and it was evident in their play. They were well structured, and their game plan worked efficiently. Halfback John Morris, hooker Robbie Farah, and captain Brett Hodgson all stepped up to the task at hand, thereby taking the pressure off five-eighth Benji Marshall.

The Tigers were the first to open the scoring in the 5th minute. Dene Halatau made a nice run from dummy-half which eventually lead to Farah delivering a nice ball to centre Dean Collis who scored.

The Bulldogs hit back in the 10th minute courtesy of some smart play from Corey Hughes, the hooker taking on the line from dummy-half and delivering a nice ball to Willie Mason who barged over to score.

The Tigers scored again minutes later, capitalising on a mix up in the Bulldogs in-goal which earnt them a line drop-out. Collis soon grabbed his second try off a grubber kick from Marshall which was too hard to handle for Dogs winger Trent Cutler.

The Tigers continued their impressive performance following some classy individual play from John Morris who dummied his way to the try line in the 27th minute. Morris stepped and weaved past Dogs defenders to get a four pointer.

At half time, Wests Tigers led 16-6.

In the second-half the Tigers continued the onslaught. Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten threw a ball which went loose and Benji Marshall picked it up, running 70 metres uncontested to scored.

The Dogs hit back though in the 58th minute through some classic play from Brent Sherwin who delivered a beautiful flick pass to Sonny Bill Williams 10 metres out from the line. Williams barged through a few defenders and earnt a four pointer. A comeback was now possible, the score 22-12.

But the Tigers spoiled the Dogs
