Wests Tigers go to Battle for
Charity

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens will be looking for an improved effort from his players in the Campbelltown City Cup Trial against Canberra Raiders at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday, March 5, at 6pm.

Sheens was disappointed with the side?s performance in the recent trial loss to Manly at Leichhardt Oval and will use the trial against Canberra to finalise the team for the Round One clash against Parramatta at Telstra Stadium on Saturday, March 12.

The annual Campbelltown City Cup takes on a new look this season with Wests Tigers tackling Canberra instead of the Parramatta Eels.

With Canberra having the bye in Round One and Wests Tigers in Round Two, the two Clubs agreed it was a perfect opportunity to have a final hit-out before the season kick-off.

Canberra coach Matt Elliot has named a very strong line-up for the clash. Elliot will be particularly keen on seeing how new halves Jason Smith and Lincoln Withers form a combination with captain Simon Woolford.

Proceeds from the match will go towards the Wests Tigers? nominated charity, the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation. The money will be used to purchase medical equipment in support of the five paediatric units serving Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals.

The match is sponsored by Campbelltown City Council, Wests Leagues Club Campbelltown and Parkview Developments.
