September 2005

This month?s edition of Rugby League Review hits the stands on Tuesday, 6th September. If you?re a Rugby League supporter, then Rugby League Review is a must. The September issue has plenty to sink you teeth into including:

TOP FOUR THE ONLY HOPE

Statistics reveal that since 1998 no team outside the top four has won the Grand Final with the minor premiers having been involved in the Grand Final every year since 2000.

On three occasions teams finishing first and second in the regular season have gone on to meet in the Grand Final, that being in 2000 (Brisbane and Roosters), 2003 (Penrith and Roosters) and 2004 (Bulldogs and Roosters).

WESTS TIGERS PLAYERS TO HEAD TO BALMAIN

All Wests Tigers contracted players that are not involved in the NRL will play with Balmain-Ryde Eastwood in the Premier League with Wests receiving no players.

Wests Tigers had been keen on merging both Wests and Balmain Premier League sides but Magpies officials decided against it, opting to keep the club alive by having a presence in the lower grades.

JIM BEAM SHIELD BEING CONSIDERED

A Jim Beam Shield competition - to serve as a second-tier - is being proposed for 2006 in order to give current sides the opportunity to field reserve grade sides as well as introducing new clubs to the Jim Beam Cup competition.

Many of the current Jim Beam Cup clubs have expressed an interest in bringing back a reserve grade competition that was in operation in the old Metropolitan Cup.

Plus will look at the prospects of all eight finalists, what the people of Melbourne think about Rugby League, Western Suburbs holding on to tradition, Premier League, Jim Beam Cup, NSW Country, Qld Country, Nationwide, Student Rugby League, Police Rugby League, A-grade, Arrive Alive Cup, Juniors, Brisbane A-grade & Colts, Brisbane Second Division, Women?s Rugby League, World News and much, much more.
