White, Ferguson, Orford set for Raiders debut

The Canberra Raiders have named their three big off-season recruits for Sunday afternoon's opening match of the season against the Sharks at Canberra Stadium.

Brett White, Blake Ferguson and Matt Orford have all been named in the team to take on the Sharks, with Ferguson and Orford to undergo fitness tests later in the week to confirm they're right to take their place in the team.

Ferguson has received positive results from a scan on the finger he broke in training during the lead up to the first trial match and should be fit to play, while Orford will need to get through the teams sessions later in the week to see if his abductor strain has fully recovered.

The other injury concern for the Raiders is Joe Picker who picked up a rib injury in the Raiders trial against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, with Danny Galea and Josh Miller named on an extended bench to cover Picker.

Raiders Coach David Furner said he will give his players as much time as needed to recover from their injuries, in a bid to have the best possible team on the paddock for the opening match of the season.
