Widnes boss Frank Endacott praised the courage of his players after their home win over Bradford Bulls.
The Vikings triumphed 31-22 to leave the Bulls without a win and second bottom in the Engage Super League after two defeats.
The Bulls, stunned by Wakefield on the opening day, were second best to the Vikings who had the man of the match in Owen Craigie.
The Australian new boy crossed for two tries and also landed a drop-goal in a stunning display.
Widnes, crushed 40-18 at St Helens in their opening fixture, hit back to pile the agony on Bradford and win the praise of Endacott.
The Widnes boss said: ?We trained hard all week for this performance and it was a quality win. ?We showed graft and courage last week at St Helens but little finesse, but it all came together today.
?I?m absolutely elated and the way we trained yesterday I went home and told my missus we were going to win.?
Bradford?s coach Brian Noble had no excuses after his side?s second successive defeat.
He said: ?We gave the ball away too early and compounded it with penalties, and paid the price for a sloppy first half with the ball.
?We got back to 16-16 but then gave another penalty away on the fourth play and Widnes went to the other end of the field and scored.
?We gave them a lot of wind to sail home but we will turn this round.
?I?m very disappointed and we only kicked the ball five times compared to 17 by the Vikings.?
