Widnes snaps up Moran

Widnes have completed the signing of former Wigan scrum-half Dennis Moran.

The 29-year-year old was a free agent after being released by the engage Super League bottom side last week.

Moran had been linked with Castleford and Celtic Crusaders but has opted to join the Vikings in the hope of reinvigorating their National League One promotion push.

Vikings coach Steve McCormack said: ?I?ve said all along that we are looking to bring in quality players to this club and Dennis is a prime example of this.?

Former Parramatta player Moran joined Wigan last year after four successful seasons with London Broncos, finishing Super League?s top try-scorer in two of them.

The Australian failed to make his mark at the JJB Stadium, however, and was released by new coach Brian Noble to free up a space on the overseas quota for Canberra?s Michael Dobson.

Widnes are also hoping to complete one-month loan deals for Wigan pair Jordan James and Oliver Wilkes.

Both forwards only joined the Warriors this season but at present do not fit into Noble?s plans.

Wales international James began his professional career with Sheffield Eagles after catching the eye playing for amateurs Gloucestershire Warriors. He has also played for Castleford and Swinton.

Wilkes began the season with Whitehaven after spending last year in Super League with relegated Leigh.
