Windsor roar through to NSW Cup Grand Final

Windsor have come from 4th position to book a place at the NSW Cup grand final, courtesy of a 32-26 victory over Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers.

Balmain Ryde though, were first on the board with Darren Nicholls scoring. Sean Meaney converted and it was 6-0. Windsor would hit right back with Storm bound Maurice Blair fighting with the goal-posts to eventually get the ball down and level the scores.

Sean Meaney would take advantage of some sloppy reads in defence to restore Balmain's lead. Balmain would extend their lead to eight after a penalty for the defenders laying in the ruck too long making it 14 points to 6.

The Wolves would stay patient though, forcing repeat sets and their reward finally came when big Steve Meredith sold a dummy and reduced the advantage of Balmain to two. Following a Trindall 40/20, Sandor Earl would given Windsor an unlikely lead scoring right on halftime making it 16-14 at oranges.

Windsor continued their domination when Nigel Plum burst through and wouldn't be stopped making it 22-14 not long in the second half. Balmain were a mess and had no direction with some easy passes being dropped. Their dreams of going to a grand final slowly slipping away, with each passing minute.

It seemed all academic when Michael Mate crossed in the corner making it two converted tries the difference after Trindall missed the conversion. It seemed like a lost cause before David Gower punched through the line and offloaded to Farlow to give Balmain a sniff at 26-20 with eleven and a half to go.

That wouldn't last long though, with Joesph Paulo and Zoram Watene combining for the latter to score and make the advantage twelve again with not long to go. Balmain would make it closer when Ryan Carr scored from dummy half but that would be all. Windsor winning 32-26 and booking a spot in the grand final.

Windsor Wolves 32 (Blair, Meredith, Earl, Plum, Mate Watene tries. Trindall 4/6) defeated Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers 26 (Nicholls, Meaney, Farlow, Carr tries. Meaney 5/5)
