Wrap: Roberts, Hunt, Dykes &
Noddy

Sydney Roosters winger Amos Roberts is free to play in Sunday's clash against Newcastle after beating a grade one dangerous throw charge at the NRL judiciary tonight.

Roberts was charged for a 73rd minute tackle during last Sunday's 40-20 win over North Queensland and risked missing two games if he unsuccessfully contested the charge. The 25-year-old faced a one-game suspension with an early guilty plea.

However, Roberts is now available for the Knights match, which will be played at Gosford's Bluetongue Stadium. The news is a timely boost for the Roosters, who need to win all their remaining matches to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Up north, the Brisbane Broncos have lashed out at allegations Test fullback Karmichael Hunt was involved in late-night misbehaviour.

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen has labelled reports on Brisbane's Channel 10 and 7 news bulletins that Hunt was at the centre of a cab-rank assault as "disgraceful and irresponsible". It was alleged in separate reports Hunt either squirted water at a woman or pushed her in Brisbane's CBD late Saturday night, prompting a melee which saw six people arrested.

Cullen says the media has unfairly targeted Hunt in a feeding frenzy following allegations dumped halfback Brett Seymour headbutted a woman on a hotel dance-floor.

Elsewhere, Cronulla captain Brett Kimmorley insists his halves pairing with Adam Dykes isn't to blame for the NRL club's slide, despite damning statistics to the contrary.

The Sharks have won just four of the last 20 games when both playmakers are on the paddock - including two of 10 this year - with their combination coming under fire following five consecutive losses.

However, Kimmorley refuted suggestions he didn't gel with Dykes. The Sharks, who are clinging to eighth spot on for-and-against, face the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland on Saturday.
