NSW Under 20's secure second victory
The New South Wales Blues have secured their second Under 20s Origin victory over the Queensland Maroons with a 36-12 win at Centrebet Stadium.
NSW Blues fullback, Clint Gutherson was a stand out as his talents lead to three Blues tries. The first came 11 minutes into the contest has his quick hands lead to George Jennings posting the first of his double.
Gutherson had a hand in the second Blues try as he linked with half, Mitch Cornish to send Charly Runciman over in the corner.
The QLD Maroons returned serve late in the first half with two quick tries. The first a simple charge over through the Blues defence from Brandon Tago. The second posted by Canberra Raider, Anthony Milford in support of Kurt Mann bolted away for the Maroons first try.
At half time, the conversions from Anthony Milford the difference as the QLD Maroons were leaders 12-8.
The second half was a Blues' domination as they scored four unanswered tries. Mitch Cornish the star of the second half claiming two tries.
First points of the second stanza were scored by Michael Lichaa who darted quickly out of acting half to score under the posts with a solo run.
Truly against the run of play, Clint Gutherson off a 20 metre tap set up Charly Runciman for his second as the QLD Maroons unaware of the quick play. The Blues capitalised as they extended their lead to 20-12 after 53 minutes.
Canberra Raider, Mitchell Cornish secured the victory with his two tries, the first with a solo run through the tired Maroons prop forwards. His second thanks to the infield kick from Wests Tigers young gun, Luke Brooks.
The NSW Blues with a run away victory secured the Darren Lockyer shield for the second straight year, 36-12 over the QLD Maroons.
