INTERNATIONAL prop Jason Ryles will make his long-awaited comeback tonight against the Sharks at Toyota Park but the St.George Bank Dragons will be without captain Trent Barrett and Luke Bailey for the second week.

FULLBACK Ben Hornby has scored a hat trick of tries as the St George Illawarra Dragons have run out convincing 42-12 winners over the Cronulla Sharks.

Knights run away with second half

IN a strong second half performance the Newcastle Knights have beaten the South Sydney Rabbitohs 24-8 at Energy Australia Stadium.

Cowboys hand Eels second consecutive defeat

THE North Queensland Cowboys have upset the Parramatta Eels 24-20 at Parramatta Stadium this evening. The Cowboys held a commanding 20-0 lead at halftime but were almost run down with the Eels getting within a converted try with just over five minutes remaining.

RFL to start 2004 debt free

RUGBY League in Britain has turned the corner and will start 2004 completely debt free, putting it in a far greater position to truly push the greatest game of all to the English public. Richard Lewis, who took over the position as executive chairman in March 2002 incurred a ?1.9m debt which was party made up from the loss from the 2000 Rugby League World Cup which lost ?700,000, as well as previous debts the RFL have been paying back for the last 15 years.

Suggest a name for the West Indies

THE West Indies Rugby League Federation is currently looking at potential names for the representative side, and is asking for the fans of Rugby League to provide some suggestions. Similar to how the Australian national team is known as the Kangaroos and French side, the Chanticleers, the West Indies are after a name which can instantly be associated with the region.

West Indies' Strategic Plan released

THE West Indies Rugby League Federation (WIRLF) has officially released its four year strategic plan for the development of Rugby League in the West Indies and Caribbean region on its official website.

Carney to Assist Irish Development Plans

RUGBY League Ireland?s ambitious plans for an 18-team inter-provincial championship will be boosted by a fund-raising dinner at Huddersfield?s historic George Hotel on March 20 2004 - with Great Britain & Ireland Test star Brian Carney confirmed as the guest of honour. Rugby League Ireland (RLI), the sport?s governing body across the Irish Sea, recently announced ambitious plans to launch a dramatically expanded domestic competition in 2004 to help establish rugby league as a major sport in the country. Now RLI has teamed up with the fund-raising group 1895 International to stage a gala dinner in order to raise the necessary funds push forward this exciting new development.

Britain Seeks To Return to World Cup Series

BRITAIN are pushing for a return of the rugby league World Cup in 2008 to replace the Tri-Nations tournament. The possibility of holding the event will be discussed when the International Federation meets in Sydney on 26 January.

Xmas Conviction Could Ruin Morley's Rooster Chances

ADRIAN Morley's return to Sydney Roosters could be in doubt after he was convicted of drink-driving in England. The Great Britain forward is due to fly back to Australia on Monday, but his bid for a permanent visa to reside down under is not now certain to succeed.
