Wakefield Trinity won 14-10 against Hull FC in their game on Thursday night down at DIY Kitchens Stadium.
The hosts get their second win of the campaign while Hull FC remain in the lower half of the Super League table.
Hull FC were the first side to get on the board. Lewis Martin set it up with a slicing run which had Trinity on the back foot.
Late in the set, Hull FC swept it left on the last tackle and the winger finished in the corner to make it 6-0.
Trinity forced Martin in-goal for their best chance. Jake Trueman went close then it was flung to the hosts winger, Will Tate, to slide over.
Hull FC went to the well again and extend their lead to six. It was a slick backline move and Martin strolled over for his second.
It looked like the visitors would take that lead into the break before the rugby league ball decided to bounce wickedly.
Trueman lofted a kick which fooled the Hull FC defenders and it bounced right to Oliver Pratt to go over for a 10-all scoreline at the break.
The second half was much more attritional from both sides. Trueman almost set up Josh Rourke but they weren't able to convert.
Trinity did get it right near the hour mark. It was a night for the wingmen as another set piece ended with Tate bagging his second for 14-10.
Tate was denied a hat-trick late in the contest. He tried to burrow himself to the line but Davy Litten was able to hold him up.
