Raiders name
squad to take on Roosters

Terry Campese will replace injured five-eighth Jason Smith, one of five player changes to the Canberra Raiders starting line-up for Saturday?s match against the Roosters at Central Coast Stadium, Gosford.

Young duo Campese, 20, and Todd Carney, 18, will be given a chance in the halves as Smith recovers from a medial ligament tear in his right knee, likely to sideline him for six weeks.

Despite their young ages, Campese and Carney have had plenty of experience playing together as a halves combination in the lower grades. They have only started one NRL match together this season, with the Raiders holding on for a gritty 14-10 win over the Knights in Newcastle in Round 8.

Carney will back-up from tomorrow night?s State of Origin curtain-raiser, where he will captain the NSW Under 19s against Queensland.

In other Raiders team news, lock Jason Croker, winger Craig Frawley (calf/knee) and prop Troy Thompson (hamstring) have been named to make their return from injuries.

Strong-running forward Michael Hodgson has also forced his way into the Raiders starting side, having been one of Canberra?s best in Sunday?s 28-16 loss to the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown.

Aside from the personnel changes, there has been one positional change. David Howell has moved in off the wing to replace suspended centre Adam Mogg.
