Roosters end Bulldogs 7 game streak

The Sydney Roosters have ended the 7 game winning streak of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs with a 32-12 victory at ANZ Stadium in front of 19,088 fans.

The Bulldogs were outsiders coming into the contest with halves pairing Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson given the nod over Roosters duo James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce for the NSW Blues.

The blue and whites looked to mount points early as Moses Mbye darted over the try line, however controversially the video referee denied the rookie half his first NRL try.

Debutant, Nene Macdonald was awarded his first career four-pointer as he flew high to take a great catch as the Roosters bombed the Bulldogs left side defence. There were heart palpitations from Trent Robinson (Roosters coach) as the video referee incredibly pushed the wrong button and spun up no try, luckily the decision correct to give the Roosters a 4-0 lead after 17 minutes.

Man of the Match, Sonny Bill Williams fired quickly to make it back-to-back tries for the tricolours as he cracked the Bulldogs goal line defence with a surging run.

Canterbury fought hard to trial by two points at the break as Mitch Brown crafted the first of two tries (27th minute) and Krisnan Inu slot a penalty goal on half time to close the gap to 10-8.

"The Count", Anthony Minichiello opened the scoring in the second half as he danced over in the eastern corner of ANZ Stadium as Shaun Kenny-Dowall provided the flick pass. Roosters led 14-8 after 48 minutes.

Mitch Brown claimed his second try of the match as a well-weighted grubber from Moses Mbye was dived on just shy of the dead ball line. The Bulldogs in with a shot, trailing just 14-12 heading into the final quarter.

The Bondi boys stormed home in the final 15 minutes and secured two premiership points with Shaun Kenny-Dowall (65th minute) Sonny Bill Williams (67th minute) and Anthony Minichiello (70th minute) crossing for tries. The Roosters clicked together and denied the Bulldogs any opportunity to strike back.

There will be some trouble for young David Klemmer as he was placed on report for leading with a boot as he charged into a tackle of Sam Moa. The incident will be review by the Match Review Committee heading into Round 12.

Next week the boys from Belmore enjoy a week break with a bye in Round 12, while the Sydney Roosters travel to the National Capital to clash with the Canberra Raiders.
