Raiders rumble in the Taranaki

v BYE

The decision to take their home game to New Plymouth hasn't gone well for the Warriors after a 38-12 loss at the hands of the Canberra at Yarrow Stadium.

The Raiders took a dominant 22-0 half time lead but the scoreline didn't necessarily reflect the nature of the half with the Warriors peppering the Raiders line through the early phases but couldn't turn into points unlike their opponents who took every chance they got.

Blake Austin opened the scoring with a strong run along with poor defence from the Warriors, Joseph Leilua was on the right end of a lucky rebound and Jarrod Croker was too good for some weak defence to score the three tries, Croker slotted all three conversions and two penalty goals to take the score to 22-0.

The Warriors had their own chance when Bodene Thompson managed to blow a dead set certain try when all he needed to do was ground the ball and he managed to knock it on.

The second half started with the Warriors dominating and they opened the scoring through Shaun Johnson when they kept the ball alive and this created a catalyst for the Warriors to go on with but they couldn't take the advantage they had.

The Warriors sloppiness from the first half returned and it was three bad errors from the Raiders that gifted them three tries throughout the second half.

The first try came when David Fusitua knocked on off the first pass from the scrum and it was Josh Papalli who scored, soon after Josh Hodgson and Edrick Lee scored in quick succession both of the back of Warriors errors.

The final try came the way of the Warriors Blake Ayshford who picked up a loose ball after Thompson was stripped by the Raiders and the bunker gave the green lights for the final points of the match.

The Warriors next weekend have the bye before the tough task of hosting the Brisbane Broncos whilst the Raiders will host the Bulldogs next Sunday afternoon in Canberra.
