Eels entertain in the top end

v BYE

The Parramatta Eels have made a successful raid of Darwin after a 22-12 win over a hapless Titans side in front of over 7,000 Territorians at TIO Stadium.

The Titans were far and away the best side of the opening 20 minutes with Ash Taylor setting things alight for the Gold Coast with a high floating pass coming under extreme defensive pressure and it set up Anthony Don to score out wide untouched.

Agnatius Paasi got the Titans second try of the afternoon again out wide after the Eels couldn't clean up a high kick in their own in goal and the Titans second rower was on the spot to ground the ball and after a shocking conversion attempt from Ash Taylor the Titans lead 8-0.

The wheels began to fall off from the Titans performance with basic errors creeping in to the game before the Eels raced through to score through Bevan French despite the best efforts of Konrad Hurrell and the TIO goal posts and after the bunker review and conversion it was 8-6.

Both sides had no success with bunker referrals in the next few minutes but just after the half hour mark, Michael Gordon took advantage of a loose ball and scored in the corner and after he converted it was 12-6.

The Titans were hurt by a 50% completion rate in the opening 40 minutes and a much better one didn't really help much in the second half as even though both sides scored one try apiece the decision to go for penalty goals helped the Eels.

Along with the penalty goals Kaysa Pritchard scored for the Eels just minutes after being placed on report for a high tackle. The Titans had enough chances but could only manage a consolation try when Will Zillman got a magical flick on to Anthony Don who scored his second for the match.

Next weekend the Eels are at ANZ Stadium against the struggling Rabbitohs on Friday night while the Titans host Manly at Robina on Monday.
