We are just moments away from kick-off; can the Eels put an end to a six year finals drought or will the Broncos go one better in 2016? All will be revealed over the next 26 rounds and finals series, but one thing is for certain: it's great to have footy back!

In the absence of Kieran Foran, new recruit Beau Scott will captain the Eels.

Brisbane are 1-17; with Ben Hunt returning at halfback after missing the World Club Series win over Wigan through suspension.

For the Eels, Kieran Foran is out with a hamstring injury; replaced by Luke Kelly. In the only other change Kaysa Pritchard comes onto the bench in place of David Gower.

Greg Eden will make his NRL debut for Brisbane after spending last year with Wynnum Manly. Prior to that he had stints in England with Castleford, Huddesfield, Hull KR and Salford.

Josh McGuire will play his first NRL game since Round 16 last year after recovering from a torn Achilles.

Kenny Edwards will play his first game since Round 26, 2014 having missed all of last season with a knee injury sustained at the Auckland Nines.

Former Manly flyer Clinton Gutherson will play his first game for the Eels after sustaining a season-ending knee injury in the opening round last season; ironically against Parramatta at Pirtek Stadium.

Semi Radradra will play his 50th game for the Eels; in the past two seasons he has scored a first round hat-trick at home.

The two sides previously played in the opening round of 2012; on that day new Eels halfback Chris Sandow scored early, but the Broncos ran out eventual 18-6 winners at Parramatta Stadium.

In the past 5 years the two sides have played 7 times; Brisbane lead 4-3 including last year’s 28-16 win on ANZAC Day.
