Rabbitohs v Cowboys preview

South Sydney Rabbitohs v North Queensland Cowboys
ANZ Stadium - Monday 7:00pm

The Rabbitohs will be without crafty half Adam Reynolds for the foreseeable future, after he damaged his knee in his side's controversial win against the Bulldogs. Reynolds expects his immediate future to be clearer after he meets with the specialist today.

"Off to see the surgeon Friday fingers crossed for best possible outcome", said Reynolds.

John Sutton will make a surprise return to the side only a month after breaking his jaw.

The Cowboys have added Glenn Hall to an extended bench, but are otherwise unchanged from the side that defeated the Panthers in Penrith last weekend.

The South Sydney side come into this match after scraping a win against the Bulldogs. They'll be considering themselves lucky to escape with the win. North Queensland, led by the creativity of Johnathan Thurston, look to be finding some form. They easily accounted for the Panthers in round 5, and defeated the Storm the week before. How they'll handle the Rabbitohs in defence remains to be seen.

Last meeting: Round 24 2014 - South Sydney Rabbitohs 10 North Queensland Cowboys 22

Who to watch: Greg Inglis looks set for a big game, with rumours of a late positional change into the halves to cover for injured Reynolds. This would set up an entertaining battle between Inglis/Keary and Morgan/Thurston. That said, wherever Inglis plays, he's sure to be aiming to run a lot of attack at the Rabbitohs smaller men. Better that than getting bashed by their forwards.

Also keep an eye on James Tamou. He has been disappointing so far this season, and looks a long way from the form that earned him a state of origin berth. What better way to prove critics wrong than to take the game to a Rabbitohs forward pack containing the Burgess brothers, Glenn Stewart and Chris McQueen.

The favourite: The Rabbitohs are obviously favourites in this match.
