Update: Ben Creagh

St George Illawarra Dragons co-captain Ben Creagh underwent surgery to correct an ongoing knee issue on Wednesday.

The local University of Wollongong junior, in consultation with Dragons Medical Staff, met with an orthopaedic surgeon earlier on in the week to seek out a favourable outcome for the reoccurring ailment.

Creagh, 31, was a late omission from the line-up which defeated the Penrith Panthers 14-12 at WIN Stadium, Wollongong last round and will commence his rehabilitation following the outcome of the surgery.

"Ben Creagh unfortunately had an issue with his knee last week which really stiffened up recently," said Dragons Head of Medical and Performance Tony Ayoub.

"He has had some chronic knee issues for a long time and he battles through it and does quite well each week.

"Unfortunately, it just got the better of him towards the end of last week and we had to stand him down for the game against the Panthers.

"After seeing an orthopaedic surgeon on Tuesday we decided to give the joint a little bit of a clean-out and hopefully have him back sooner rather than later.

"We won't know the nature of it until we go into the knee and will map out a course for him upon the results."
