Roosters revival gains momentum

v BYE

The Roosters have jumped into the winners circle on a sodden Sydney afternoon, downing the Wests Tigers 32-18 at Allianz Stadium in front of a record low crowd 3,622 fans.

With rain pouring down at Allianz Stadium and the NYC game before the NRL fixture postponed due to bad weather, the First Grade game went on.

First points came in the 8th minute to Latrell Mitchell, and two minutes later more points were registered for the Roosters through Daniel Tupou, bringing the score to 12-0 just ten minutes into the contest.

Finally after 14 minutes, Tim Simona scored the first try of the game for the Wests Tigers. Perfect boots from Sio Suia Taukeiaho (Roosters) and Mitchell Moses (Wests Tigers) meant no misses and the score went to 18-6 in the Roosters' favour.

It took another 15 minutes for the next points to come for the Roosters through a perfect little tip on to Blake Ferguson, off a Ryan Matterson pass to Dale Copley.

A last ditch effort from the Wests Tigers before the break saw David Nofoaluma to go over and score, and the Roosters took an 18-12 lead into the sheds.

In the second half we didn't see Latrell Mitchell and Isaac Liu come back, due to them both having severe leg injuries. After 52 minutes we saw a perfect kick from Jake Friend into the posts for Aidan Guerra to gather in goals and claim a try, bringing the score to 24-12 in the Roosters' favour.

Hoping to raise hopes of Tigers fans, James Tedesco went in to score his 10th try of the 2016 season, reducing the margin to six. Those hopes weren't around for too long - eight minutes later Connor Watson went in to score his first try in the NRL, wrapping up the scoring for the game to secure the Roosters third win of the season, 32-18.

Next weekend the Roosters host Melbourne on Saturday night back here at Allianz Stadium, while the Wests Tigers host the Rabbitohs on Friday night back home at ANZ Stadium.
