A big day for the Jets on Saturday

Reminder for Saturday, May 8: VB Premier League Newtown v North Sydney, Henson Park, 3.00pm Second Leg of the 2004 Frank Hyde Cup series The legendary Frank Hyde himself will be in attendance. Jim Beam Cup Newtown plays away to Ryde-Eastwood Saturday, May 8, Leichhardt Oval, 2.30 pm kick-off. Royston Jaftha, a young man who plays with our fraternal club, the UTS Jets RLFC, suffered an appalling head injury in a recent Student Rugby League match and is fighting for his life in Liverpool Hospital. The UTS Jets are holding a fund-raising Charity Comedy Night for Royston at the Agincourt Hotel, corner of Broadway and Harris Streets this Saturday, 8th May, at 8.00pm. It is $40 per person for a really good cause. Naturally everyone at Newtown sends good wishes to Royston and his family. Two more Jets are heading west this weekend to assist our other fraternal club the Parkes Spacemen in Group 11 in the Country Rugby League. 120kg front-rower Thomas Motuapuaka and hard-working backrower Dane Scott will turn out with the Spacemen this Sunday against the Manildra Rhinos. This player loan system is working very well for the benefit of both clubs, and we'll keep you posted as to how our boys go. Paul Shiels, the dynamic President of the Junior Jets JRLFC assures me that all the Junior Jets teams are off to a great start in this year's South Sydney Juniors competitions. The Junior Jets are the fastest growing junior club in Australian Rugby League, and the success of this young club is a terrific credit to all the volunteer officials who have put this amazing organisation together. See you all at Henson Park on Saturday afternoon!
