Anasta out for the season

Sydney Roosters five-eighth Braith Anasta will undergo groin surgery later today which will rule him out for the remainder of the NRL season.

Anasta had been battling a groin complaint for most of the season before exacerbating the injury in Saturday night's humiliating 25-0 loss to the Bulldogs, a defeat which ended the Roosters' slim finals hopes. The 24-year-old pivot visited a specialist this morning who advised him to undergo surgery immediately.

It brings to an end a disastrous season for Anasta who has had an up and down year with form following his move from the Bulldogs to the Roosters during the off season. Whilst making two Origin appearances, the solid ball player has struggled for consistency at club level.
