Anderson:
"...back me or sack me"

Despondent Sharks coach Chris Anderson has called on the Cronulla board to back him 100% or sack him.

During an interview aired on ABC radio, Anderson was highly critical and described Cronulla as "a divided club."

In a public ultimatum, Anderson has called on the club make their intentions clear about the coaching situation. "I want to know if I have their 100% support," said Anderson. "...or they can sack me."

"There's been no support publicly for what I'm trying to do," Anderson said.

"They've got to get rid of me or buy into what I'm doing."

When asked who on the board he was referring to, Anderson replied, "Steve Rogers isn't giving me many answers."

In deciding to go public with his concerns, Anderson described Cronulla as a club where 'back stabbing' is the norm.

"It's not fair on the players and it's affecting my health," said Anderson.

Anderson's comments followed a 40-12 drubbing at the hands of the Raiders yesterday afternoon - a result which spells the end of the Sharks' 2003 campaign.

Rumours last week suggested that the Sharks board had approached Wigan coach Stuart Raper - a rumour which has been denied. Reports were also circulating that Chris Anderson will be coaching in the English Super League next year - a rumour which has also been denied. However, it has been confirmed that Raper will be moving back to Australia next year 'for family reasons.'
