Barrett says goodbye to Wigan

Trent Barrett has been granted a formal release from English Super League club - Wigan Warriors.

Barrett's manager Wayne Beavis confirmed that a release from Wigan was finally obtained on the weekend after Bulldogs utility Cameron Phelps was signed as a replacement.

Cronulla CEO Tony Zappia will be meeting with Beavis on Thursday. Canberra and Souths are reportedly also interested in the former international, but the Sharks are the favourite to pick him up. It would seem it is already a done deal with Kimmorley's recent exit and Beavis confident a deal will be struck this week.
