Barrett taken to hospital

Australian five eighth Trent Barrett has been taken to the hospital for precautionary scans on his neck after collecting an accidental elbow from Great Britain centre, Martin Gleeson.

Barrett was knocked unconscious while attempting a tackle on Gleeson late in the one off test match at Aussie Stadium (SFS) on Friday night.

It was the downside in an otherwise spectacular evening for the Kangaroos who thrashed the Lions by a 64-10, a record scoreline for an Anglo-Australian Test match. Trainers and the team doctor became concerned after Barrett complained about 'pins and needles and numbness' in the lower back. He was carefully stretchered off in a neck brace as the medicab was deemed to be too risky. He was later taken to hospital and will almost certainly miss the Dragons v Bulldogs clash set down for Sunday afternoon at WIN Stadium.
