Battle for
the Herald Cup

REDCLIFFE v WYNNUM MANLY Dolphin Oval, Saturday July 15, 2.00pm *Live on ABC TV Referee: Justin Eastwood

THE STORY: Wynnum Manly will try to break perhaps the longest-running hoodoo in rugby league when it tries to win its first game at Dolphin Oval since 1984. If the Seagulls can take confidence from anything, it is their last-up performance, a 42-20 win against Burleigh. However when you consider that the last time Wynnum won on the peninsula its team included the names Lewis, Miles, Dowling, Scott and French, thoughts of a victory may be slightly optimistic.

THE STAT: In another sign of the Wizard Cup?s longevity, Redcliffe will become the first club to record 250 games in the competition. The Dolphins have played more finals games, 29, than any other side in the league.

THE STAR: Of the 249 Wizard Cup games for Redcliffe so far, Troy Lindsay has played in 214 of them. He is in doubt for this match with a shoulder injury, having played two matches last week under duress. Teammate Nick Emmett will play his second game at five-eighth for the Dolphins since making his NRL debut for the Broncos as a centre.
