Bears Become Sand Hill Warriors At Palm
Beach

Four training squads and two gruelling hours was the scene on Saturday morning at Palm Beach in Northern Sydney. Steve Carter?s Jersey Flegg squad joined the Clubs? Premier League & S G Ball teams as well as Asquith?s Jim Beam Cup side in one of the hardest training sessions yet.

Renowned fitness trainer Rob Roland-Smith (the Sand Hill Warrior), who?s other trainees include Kelly Slater and the Wests Tigers NRL team, combined up hill sand running with core resistance exercises and motivational talk.

Typical of the talk was Rob?s opening words. ?I will give you 100% of me and I expect 100% back. I want positive talk. I want you to train as a team, if some of your team mates are falling behind help each other out?.

Bears Jersey Flegg coach and Penrith great Steve Carter was keen to see how his team coped with the workload, commenting ?This will sort the fit players from the rest?. Steve has mentored many players during his career and is looking forward to 2006, ?It?s great to work with the young players and see them develop?.

At the end of one of the toughest sessions the Sand Hill Warrior gave the Bears his fitness score card. ?You did very well out there today. I said I would give you some feedback; you need to work harder on your endurance, watch your diet and I can tell from the core exercises you did that you need to do more resistance exercises. It?s been great training with you and great meeting you today?.

The Bears will return to Palm Beach in two weeks time when Rob claims he will up the anti!

Rob has been running his personnel training business out of Palm Beach for many years. At over 50 years old why does he still do it? ? ?I love it? he states.
