Brian Carney faces Operation
Today

Wigan's Great Britain Winger Brian Carney will have an operation at 5pm today after suffering a broken ankle in two places in Sunday's 38-12 win against Widnes Vikings in the Powergen Challenge Cup.

The news is a further major injury blow and everyone at the club wishes Brian well.

Chairman Maurice Lindsay said,

"The salary cap rules prevent you from signing even in an emergency like this which is one of the reasons I have always said the salary cap is floored. Wigan and Hull suffered in the same way last year and neither of us have fully recovered. We face three of our next four Super League fixtures away from home with a depleted squad. It is back to the wall stuff again just like it was last year but we are used to that. The players will get us through."
