Brisbane Broncos name team to play
Knights

Broncos star centre Shaun Berrigan has been named in the Broncos line-up for this Friday night?s huge clash with the Newcastle Knights at Suncorp Stadium, just one week after injuring his hamstring at training.

Berrigan was rumoured to be in doubt for the opening State of Origin clash on May 26, however, the hard-running utility will start at halfback, with talented youngster Brett Seymour ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Berrigan?s selection at the Broncos scrumbase also firms the likelihood he will be given the number sever jersey when the Queensland team is announced next Monday.

International prop Shane Webcke has also been recalled after a week on the sidelines with a back problem. The big front-rower has had constant treatment on the injury and isn?t expecting it to hamper his performance against the Knights.

Coach Wayne Bennett has kept young forwards Sam Thaiday, Carl Webb, Darren Mapp and Neville Costigan in the squad after impressive performances by all four men last weekend. Playmaking options Ben Ikin and Motu Tony have also been included, should Berrigan re-aggravate his hamstring complaint.
