Brisbane sweating on Hunt fitness

Brisbane are sweating on the fitness of representative fullback Karmichael Hunt, who is in doubt for Friday night's Queensland derby with the Cowboys.

Hunt, who escaped a careless high tackle charge at the judiciary on Wednesday night, may still miss the clash with a knee injury.

He failed to train again on Thursday and will be reassessed before kick-off Friday.

Broncos assistant coach Ivan Henjak said Hunt was close to being able to play.

If Hunt fails to come up to scratch Darius Boyd will shift to fullback, where he played as an Australian schoolboy, and speed machine Denan Kemp will go to the wing.

Brisbane have enjoyed a perfect start to the season while the Cowboys enter the clash under extreme pressure having lost their opening two games to the Titans and Wests Tigers.

Brisbane will welcome back hooker Michael Ennis, who will start off the bench behind in-form PJ Marsh.
