give Dragons chance of victory.
The St George Illawarra Dragons have the best chance of all teams this year to beat the Broncos. The Dragons will be without block busting prop Jason Ryles, but thats a small loss compared to the firepower missing from the Broncos line up. Chris Walker, Allan Langer, Brad Meyers and Petero Civinoceva have all joined Michael De Vere on the sidelines for today?s clash with the Dragons.
With 5 players out, 4 in the backs, the Broncos have had to call on rookie players with no NRL experience. Both Elia Tuqiri and Brett Seymour have been called up from the Toowoomba side. With Elia coming into the starting line up to replace Walker, and Seymour slotting onto the bench, to cover for McGuire who?ll move into the number 6, allowing Berrigan to move into halfback and cover for the rested Langer.
Broncos fans will be pleased to see the good form of youngster Casey McGuire rewarded with another game at 5/8. McGuire?s good form this year has meant that coach Wayne Bennett has not been forced to rush Scott Prince back into the side this weekend to cover injuries.
The Dragons attack will no doubt revolve around putting pressure on the inexperienced Elia Tuqiri, and no doubt they would be rather happy that Chris Walker is not playing. Even though Walker?s defense has been labeled suspect, he would have been going into this game with something to prove after getting very limited game time in origin one, and the last time he had something to prove he scored 5 tries in one match for Toowoomba, then set up Lockyer for two in his next match for the Broncos.
This will be a closely fought match, with several of the Broncos backing up from origin one the Dragons will look to spread the ball and run the Broncos around the field. On paper the Broncos still look way to strong for the struggling Dragons, but like any Eels fan will tell you after Friday nights game, being stronger on paper means squat.
