Broncos hand Tigers fifth straight loss

The West Tigers have crashed to their fifth straight loss after going down 18-14 to the Broncos in front of a 17,556 crowd at Allianz Stadium this evening.

An embarrassing, error riddled first half from the home team, enabled the Broncos to take control of the match early, with Jack Reed opening up the scoring in the 12th minute only moments after the Tigers looked certain to score on the other side of the field.

Reed's try came on the back of a one on strip from Josh Hoffman only meters out from the Broncos' try line. Hoffman made 70 meters before being chased down by the Tigers' defence, but the damage has already been done, with Peter Wallace setting up Reed for the try.

Reed crossed for his double only three minutes later after a mix up between Tim Moltzen and Beau Ryan saw a Wallace bomb go unchallenged.

A dropped with the line wide open on two separate occasions saw the score remain unchanged as the half progressed despite the visitors dominating every facet of the match.

The Broncos were made to pay for their missed opportunities a few minutes out from half time with Liam Fulton scoring for the Tigers on the back of a Blake Ayshord offload.

The visitors continued to dominate following the break as the Tigers struggled to complete their sets, but despite several quality attacking opportunities the visitors failed to come away with another four-pointer until the 72nd minute when Dale Copley scored of a Corey Norman kick following four consecutive sets at the try line.

The Tigers hit back in the 76th minute with Blake Ayshord crossing for a try. Benji Marshall added the extras to reduce the Broncos' lead to eight.

A consolation try to Tom Humble on full-time provided Tigers' fans with a reason to cheer and some confidence in their side's chances in the coming weeks.

As for the Broncos, they have now won five of their opening six matches and will be a difficult team to beat in 2012.
