Broncos reign supreme on ANZAC
Day

The Brisbane Broncos have maintained their winning form to beat Penrith 32-14 before a massive crowd of over 37,000 at Suncorp Stadium.

A moving tribute was paid to the ANZACS with a stirring rendition of the last post played by a solitary soldier prior to kickoff. Lest we forget.

The game was was played at a furious pace and it was end to end action for the full eighty minutes and although it sounds cliched, the scoreline was not indicative of the match, which was in the balance until late in the game.

It was always going to be tough for the Panthers who had six players backing up from Friday night's test match whilst the Broncos had five but the Broncos have learned how to master the perils of representative season and with a parochial crowd on their side, the odds were always stacked in favour of the home side.

Barry Berrigan was the star for the Broncos, scoring two tries at crucial times, including the opening try with a scoot from dummy half and finishing off a length of the field try that involved Brent Tate and Mick De vere.

Penrith were well served by Tony Puletua and Joel Clinton up front whilst Luke Lewis had another strong game in the centres.

Errors are what killed the Panthers with the mountain men blowing at least four scoring opportunities which would have seen the Panthers take the lead or at the very least ties the game.

Penrith host the West Tigers next weekend and should manage another win while the Broncos face the Bulldogs at Telstra Stadium in a top of the table clash which should draw a crowd in excess of 30,000 people.
