BRONCOS Roy
wants more on Sunday

London Broncos centre Nigel Roy wants more of the same please on Sunday when the Wildcats come to Griffin Park. Roy, who scored a try and was voted man of the match, was buoyed by the enthusiasm his home crowd displayed on Saturday night against St Helens.

Despite losing the opening home Super League game, London Broncos received a vociferous response from the Brentford faithful, and if things had have been a little kinder to the Broncos, that boost from the Braemar road stand could well have got the home side home.

According to Roy, it was a definite boost: "You try not to be influenced too much by what you can hear from the crowd because you are so focused on what is happening in front of you."

I guess you tend to block a lot of the noise out because you need to hear your team mates and all the set calls. If you get too caught up in the crowd noise sometimes you can be distracted."

But what we all felt on Saturday was nothing short of exhilarating. I've been here with London for a few years now and I can't recall a more energetic home crowd."

If they can continue to deliver that type of appreciation, it augers well for us on the pitch this season."

There was a definite lift in out performance at a key stage in the game. I think everyone felt it."

They (the crowd) were screaming and we were doing our best to keep up the tempo. There was a noticeable boost in the way we were playing and I know the opposition felt it as well."

It's not like, 'if they sing really loud we automatically play better', it's not quite that simple, and our fans are very well educated."

But when they do see a quality effort and the results that stem from that effort, then their reinforcement really multiplies the outcome."

It was a great atmosphere on Saturday night, and God knows what might have happened if we did grab the two points."

It might not be as large a crowd on Sunday, but gee I hope they all come back for more.

It's that type of support that makes the home ground advantage so telling. And it's that type of advantage that gives the northern clubs an edge every other week when we go up there to play."
