The Brisbane Broncos have kept their minor premiership aspirations alive with a dominant performance over a lacklustre Melbourne Storm, 48-20 in front of a decent Saturday afternoon Olypic Park crowd of 10,308.
The Broncos were scoring at will through a swiss cheese Storm defence which was a little embarassing at times, especially on the fringes and out wide. Melbourne were too slow out wide and their lack of pace was exposed badly by Lockyer, Tuqiri and Walker on many occasions.
The loss sees Melbourne sit in equal eighth spot with St George and Canberra, all nestled on 19 points with five rounds left until the semi finals. The enormity of the loss will give St George the slightest of margins as their for and against is far superior to that of the Melbourne Storm.
Mick Devere finished the day with a personal haul of twenty points as the Broncos keep the Bulldogs firmly in their sights and their round 26 clash may well determine the minor premiership should results go the Broncos way.
As for the Storm, they are almost assured of missing the finals for the second straight year and the second time in five seasons.
