Broncos too good for Titans in NRL trial

The Brisbane Broncos have posted a 24-18 win over the Gold Coast Titans in yesterday's NRL trial match at Kougari Oval, Wynnum.

The Titans scored first through former Bronco Meyers in the 21st minute. The Broncos struck back five minutes later when rookie winger Antonio Winterstein leapt high to pull down an Aaron Gorrell bomb.

The Broncos got their noses in front to lead 8-6 in the 31st minute after prop Aaron Sweeney crashed over out wide. Gorrell's difficult conversion gave the Broncos a 10-6 lead. Gold Coast's Esi Tonga scored next. Five-eighth Jordan Rankin managed a sideline conversion to make it 12-10 at the break.

The lead continued to change after the break with the Broncos getting home in the final stages.

New signings Ben Te'o and Lagi Setu made impressive debuts for Brisbane. Former Wests Tiger Te'o scored Brisbane's final try, bursting through several defenders wide out to seal the win.

Te'o and Setu are tipped to start in the Broncos' back-row for the NRL season opener against the Cowboys on March 13.
