Broncos
won't give Webcke cut rate

The Brisbane Broncos say they will not ask prop Shane Webcke to play on for less money next NRL season.

Webcke is tipped to reveal next week whether he'll put his battered body through a 13th straight season. He's indicated he's willing to play for less in 2007 if his body holds up.

But Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen says if Webcke plays on he'll be paid accordingly. Cullen says champion players should not have to go around for half price. Cullen is currently re-signing or upgrading six player contracts before the NRL's June 30 anti-tampering deadline.

He's confident of clinching all the deals.
