Penrith has given star five-eighth Preston Campbell permission to negotiate a deal with the new Gold Coast NRL franchise.
Campbell is looking to link up with the new side for its inaugural year in the competition in 2007, once his present deal with the Panthers expires at the end of next season.
Campbell has long been linked with a return to the Queensland holiday strip, having made his NRL debut with the now-defunct Gold Coast Chargers in 1998.
