Carmont, who was playing for Raymond Terrace in the Newcastle premiership 12 months ago, has proven a crowd favourite and match-winner in his debut NRL season.
In 14 games this year, the New Zealander has scored eight tries, impressing coach Michael Hagan along the way.
?I think George Carmont is one of the finds of the year, ? Hagan said earlier today.
?He was recommended to us from the local competition and was thrust into the top grade almost from the outset after a couple of injuries.?
?Nobody here expected him to play as well as he has, but we are certainly thankful that has been the case.?
?I?m hopeful that with a year of top grade football under his belt and 12 months of full-time training we may see more improvement in 2005.?
?In the meantime he will play an integral role in our run to the semi finals starting this weekend against the Broncos.?
The deal with George Carmont is for one season with an option for a further year in 2006.
The squad will play the British Academy, French Schoolboys and BARLA teams.
