Challenge Cup semi-final previews

BRADFORD BULLS v ST. HELENS

At Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield: Saturday July 28 (12.30pm)

Bradford Bulls are aiming to end a run of five successive Challenge Cup defeats against the St. Helens, including three finals. But the Bulls have fared a little better in Super League with 16 to 14 wins in the summer era, including a 10-4 home victory earlier this month after losing 34-22 at St. Helens in March.

St. Helens are the Cup holders and are seeking a win that will put them into their 20th final, having won the trophy 10 times. Bradford have won the Cup six times in 13 finals.

Saints are appearing in their seventh successive semi-final. They have won four of them and gone on to lift the Cup three times. The only players to have played in each of the previous six semi-finals are Paul Wellens and Sean Long.

Bradford have three players who played in a Challenge Cup final at the old Wembley. They are: Marcus St. Hilaire, Iestyn Harris and Terry Newton, who were all winners with Leeds in the last final to be played in the old stadium in 1999.
