Coach Abram Leaves Centurions

Super League bottom club Leigh Centurions have parted company with coach Darren Abram by mutual consent.

Leigh have picked up only five points in their first season in Super League and their relegation fate will be sealed if they lose at home to Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.

Abram, who led Leigh to promotion last season, had another 18 months of his contract to run but has left immediately.

A Leigh statement said: ?The board wish to express their appreciation to Darren for his efforts over the last two seasons.

?The team and club have progressed enormously with the hard work that Darren has put in, leaving us in a very strong position to move forward.?

Abram signed a new two-year contract with the club after guiding them to promotion from National League One last October.

The Centurions had already announced they would not be remaining full-time if they were relegated. They now plan to advertise for a new head coach.

Abram said: "Matters have resolved themselves amicably. I have enjoyed my time as head coach with Leigh. We've had some tremendous experiences recently.

?I wish to thank all the players, backroom staff and supporters for their support and help over the previous two years. I wish Leigh Centurions every success in going forward as a club."
