Coach Happy With Kangaroos
Progress

Australian coach Chris Anderson admits that his squad are giving him a selection dilemma, following their 34-10 win over a French Select XIII in Carcassonne on Saturday. The Kangaroos bounced back from their Test Match defeat to New Zealand to secure a solid, if unspectacular, success against the French side.

They led only 12-4 at half time in the Stade Albert Domec, but debutant Michael Crocker and winger Matt Sing ended up with braces in six-try victory.

Crocker, the Sydney Roosters utility forward, started the game at hooker and moved into the back row to allow Craig Wing to come in at dummy half.

The Penrith trio of winger Luke Lewis, try scorer Trent Waterhouse and prop Joel Clinton also made their debuts, and Anderson admits that he will have some selection headaches going into the First Test with Greatn Britain on 8 November.

"It was a real good hit-out," said Anderson. "Obviously we were flat - we haven't played a lot of football (but) this was just what we needed.

"We did a lot of defence. We held them out really well. As the game went on we got better.

"Michael Crocker played well. I was impressed with him, I just thought what he did was tremendous for us.

"He's one of those blokes to come off the bench and add some aggression. Luke Lewis did some good things and Trent Waterhouse played the whole 80 minutes.

"I thought Craig Gower did some good things at five-eighth. I am just weighing up some options there.

"It's just whether I stick with Craig Wing there (at hooker) or give Craig Gower a go and bring Craig Wing off the bench to give us some real impact.

"We're still mucking around with the centre combination - the halves - and if Mickey Crocker keeps going well we'll have to find a place for him."

The Kangaroos have now arrived in London ahead of the 'Think! Road Safety' international against England A on Wednesday.

Brisbane prop Shane Webcke is likely to be rested to allow a back problem to heal, and back rower Phil Bailey could also miss out after picking up a foot injury in the second half against France.

However, he is expected to be fit for the First Test and will have a precautionary X-ray.
