Comets Announce Trial Versus

The Rockhampton Leagues Club Central Queensland Comets will kick off their 2004 season with a return trial match on January 31 against the Manly Sea-Eagles at Browne Park in Rockhampton.

The Central Comets dismantled the Sea-Eagles earlier this year 42-18 and the Manly club will be looking for redemption.

The match will coincide with the Rugby League World 7's in Sydney however the Manly club have still promised to showcase such stars as Solomon Haumono, Jason King and new signings Ian Donnelly(Dragons), Daniel Heckenberg(Eels), Dallas Rennie(NZ Warriors) and new halves Shayne Dunley(Eels), Jye Mullane(Sharks) and Mark Lennon(Castleford Tigers).

Manly legends Geoff Toovey and Mark Carroll will make their coaching debuts as the Sea-Eagles mentors for the clash.

The clash will be the first of four trials for the Comets 2004 pre-season campaign with a trial against their NRL feeder club the North Queensland Cowboys to be played on February 14. The final two trial games are expected to be announced shortly.
